All item synthesis in AE2 requires energy. It is not recommended to use AE2's energy alone. It is recommended to use Universal Machinery to obtain energy.
The terminology for energy/power may vary in different versions. You can search for another name.
Obtaining Energy (Power Generation)#
This is my first time playing, and I've watched many tutorials but still don't understand how to obtain energy.
First, create a Coal Generator (called Thermal Generator in version 1.16.5) in Universal Machinery.
The Coal Generator only has one front output face.
Open it and place a Basic Energy Cube on the right side to charge the cube.
The Basic Energy Cube has input and output faces. You can check the illuminated side (front face) at night. Open the Basic Energy Cube and click on the side to configure the input and output faces.
Alternatively, you can use Basic Universal Cable
Advanced cables can transmit more energy.
to charge the Basic Energy Cube. You can also directly connect the [AE2] Energy Acceptor using the Basic Universal Cable without using the Basic Energy Cube. The Energy Acceptor will convert energy from other mods (RF, EU) into AE energy.
AE2 Basics#
Now that we have obtained energy, we need to use AE energy.
Create an Energy Acceptor, and then create an Energy Cell right next to the Energy Acceptor. Place an ME Controller on the right side of the Energy Cell.
If everything is normal, the ME Controller will light up. Please click on the hyperlink for more details.
Next, create an ME Drive and place a Storage Component inside it (you can think of items as data, and the Storage Component is like a hard drive, which means it can replace all chests. You can also integrate chests into the ME network). Then, use ME Smart Cable/ME Glass Cable to connect the ME Controller and connect the outgoing cable to the ME Terminal.
There are four types of terminals and their functions:
- ME Terminal: Browse items and replace the Crafting Terminal.
- ME Crafting Terminal: Browse items and craft them.
- ME Pattern Terminal: Create a crafting pattern for a specific item for automatic crafting.
- ME Fluid Terminal: Store fluids (requires ME Fluid Storage Component. This item was removed in version 10.0.0. Its functionality has been integrated into the ME Terminal.)
A complete ME network looks like this:
It is recommended to set it up yourself, and you will soon understand the basic architecture.
